The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a direct heir of former Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS) was founded in 1980. It is a major political party of India. The Bharatiya Jana Sangh was initiated in 1951 by Syama Prasad Mookerjee, a nationalist leader, former Union Minister and freedom-fighter. The party advocates prosperity social policies, self-reliance, vigorous monetary development, foreign policy compelled by a nationalist agenda, and robust national defense. The party’s political symbol is Lotus.
